今年迎来了澳大利亚标志性建筑悉尼海港大桥75岁“生日”。
在一般的日子里，大桥只允许车辆通行，但在这特殊的日子里，大桥则只允许人们步行。 超过20万人在星期天（3月18日）上大桥欣赏景色。
大桥是在1932年3月开始通行，它是早期悉尼的代表建筑，与举世闻名的悉尼歌剧院隔海相望。由于大桥是在1930年代"大萧条"时期竣工，因此人们也将大桥比喻为是"铁肺"，因为它为正经历经济困难的城市与国家注入了气息。
大桥共用了52000吨钢建成，是目前为止世界上最大的钢铁拱形大桥。
这天的庆典在澳大利亚土著吹管乐器"狄德吉里杜"的长鸣下开始进行。不过为了让人们专著欣赏大桥景色，所以主办者并不举行烟火表演。
